Avandia dangerous drug suit settlement

$90 million was awarded to people in 38 states for the dangerous drug suits involving the Avandia diabetes drug manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals. From 2001 to 2007, The Food and Drug Administration said that GlaxoSmithKline did not report safety data about Avandia’s cardiovascular issues. The drug was found to make heart attacks more likely in those who took it. The suit says the pharmaceutical giant misrepresented “potential health risks.” $3 billion on separate lawsuits involving illegally marketed antidepressants was ordered paid by GlaxoSmithKline earlier in the year.
