In 1984, Charles Sweeney decided to devote his firm’s practice to the representation of personal injury victims. In the last 25 years, the Sweeney Law Firm has helped thousands of injury victims and their families recover compensation for their injuries and damages. The Sweeney Law Firm handles personal injury, medical malpractice, and nursing home negligence cases on a contingent fee basis. In 1995, Sweeney teamed up with David Farnbauch, a board-certified civil trial litigator, to develop a personal injury firm with the financial resources to handle complex bodily injury cases. Lawsuits involving serious or catastrophic injuries can be very expensive to take to court. If a firm lacks the resources to fund a case properly, corners can be cut at the expense of a client’s case. Lawyers who handle personal injury and medical malpractice cases must have a firm grasp on the medicine that applies to a case. Over the years, the Sweeney Law Firm has developed a network of talented medical experts and legal nurse consultants to assist in the evaluation and preparation of cases. A typical medical malpractice case can involve three or four medical specialties, each one of which needs to have an expert witness hired to evaluate the medical issues in that specialty. In 2008, the Sweeney Law Firm formed a relationship with Dr. Gregory Kauffman, M.D., J.D., a triple board-certified physician and lawyer who has handled medical malpractice litigation for over 20 years. Dr. Kauffman is “of counsel” to the Sweeney Firm and collaborates with Sweeney staff to evaluate the merits of medical malpractice cases and assist with discovery and trial preparation.
